“How was your trip?” Chris asked. “It was absolutely the best and most amazing experience of my entire life.” Janet replied. “What happened?” A perplexed expression came over her face. “I must be flippin’ crazy!” she said. “I got so sick I could hardly move out of bed for a week. I fell off a mountain and almost got killed.

About Book – The Passion Test PDF Book

I practically froze to death in the Himalayas, got kicked by a donkey and had to travel by myself in India, something I swore I’d never do.” In spite of all this, Janet’s trip to India was the best experience of her life. She met more than sixty “Saints,” individuals revered for their wisdom and enlightenment.

Of these, she interviewed more than forty for her upcoming documentary and book, The Saints Speak Out. She trekked to the source of the holy river Ganges, high in the Himalayan mountains, and she had some of the most profound insights of her life.

We wouldn’t be surprised if you know exactly what it feels like to work for weeks, months, or years doing everything you can to get yourself out of the 9 to 5, just getting by, living from paycheck to paycheck life. Maybe you’ve attended seminars, or watched TV programs on making money in real estate, or in stocks, or in your own business.

Maybe you’ve tried to make extra money in multi-level marketing, or selling things on eBay, or getting a part time job. Maybe you know what it’s like when yet another great plan fails, when that feeling of depression and discouragement rises up and overwhelms you, turning your insides out and making you wonder, “Is all this really worth it?”

We’ve been there too. We’ve discovered those feelings come up when you are not aligned with your personal destiny. And it can all change in a moment, as it did for Janet. As the story of Janet’s trip to India unfolds, you’ll see how money appeared from nowhere, how her desires came to her, rather than her running after the desires. The Passion Test PDF Book

We’ll share the serendipitous events that occurred which she could never have predicted, and how the surface inconveniences or discomforts which inevitably appear along the path of passion, become irrelevant when one is aligned with destiny. With all that to look forward to, let’s return now to Janet’s story of the birth of The Passion TestTM.

On the second day of her seminar, Debra mentioned a survey of one hundred of the most influential, financially successful individuals in the United States. The survey found that each one of these super-successful, powerful people had one thing in common.

“Can any of you guess what that one thing was?” she asked. We each blurted out what we thought could be the magic answer, but Debra just kept shaking her head. “What could that one thing be?” I thought. Finally, after what seemed like forever, Debra said. The Passion Test PDF Book

“The survey found that these powerful, successful people had totally fulfilled those things which they each felt were most necessary for their ideal life.” With that one sentence, my life was changed forever. In other words, the light went on. Actually, it was more like fireworks!

Debra continued talking about the importance of knowing what it is you want to be, do, and have; how goal setting is important, then you too could become powerful and successful. It was so easy. As Debra segued into talking about how to “Dress for Success,” I was still in my own world, thinking about the survey.

Post these questions where you can see them each day, and every day for at least 21 days, take a few minutes to write down things you appreciate about yourself. This is so important we have formalized it in our own lives and call it The Appreciation Game. The Passion Test PDF Book

We’ll share all the details in Chapter 7. You will find that by putting your attention on your strengths, how capable you are, the reasons you can accomplish your goals, fear will drop away and the results you desire will begin showing up in your life. No tension means exactly that.

Creating intentions and putting your attention on them is a simple, easy, effortless process. No matter where you are, or what you’re going through, you are creating your world by where you put your attention. You don’t have to try. You do it naturally.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the midst of a disaster, whether you’re a single mother on welfare, or a billionaire real estate tycoon. Every day you create your experience of life from what you give your attention to. It’s a choice. Yet most people don’t choose. They unconsciously choose to allow their attention to go to the things they fear the most. The Passion Test PDF Book Download

And guess what shows up in their lives? That’s right. The things they fear the most. The person caught in the midst of a disaster can choose to focus on the fear of being killed, or on how he can help those around him who need assistance. The single mother on welfare can choose to focus on the fear she won’t have enough food for her babies.

Or she can focus on the things she can do for her babies. The billionaire real estate tycoon can focus on the fear that his fortune will be wiped out, or he can focus on the good he can do with his wealth.

I was so clear this opportunity to be with Margie in her last days was such a gift. We had been through so much together. I told her how happy I was that I got to be the one to take care of her and her response brought tears to my eyes. “Oh Janet, thank you. That makes me so happy. I was so afraid I would be a burden.” The house was overflowing with love. I was shocked when, after less than a week, Margie’s condition deteriorated dramatically. The Passion Test PDF Book Download

She seemed to be leaving much more quickly than the five or six months the doctor had said she had left. She had told us many times in recent years she was ready to go. When my Dad passed away a few years ago, she lost the most important person in her life. Now, she seemed to be rushing on to join him. On the fifth day after I arrived, Margie passed away, quietly and peacefully. Having prepared myself to be in San Diego for many months,

I was taken aback by the sudden turn of events. But there was no time to think about what this meant for my own life. While my sister was overseas, my brother, John, and I dealt with taking care of Margie’s body and her estate. From my spiritual studies, I had been told the importance of honoring a deceased family member for a few days after they die. Before Margie passed away, I asked if I could create a special ceremony for her after her passing.

I told her I had learned from my spiritual teachers that it takes a number of days for the soul to leave the body. To make sure the transition is smooth for the deceased, the friends and family should pray, meditate, sing spiritual songs and read spiritual literature in their presence. Margie loved the idea and said she would be honored if I did those things for her after she died. The Passion Test PDF Book Download

There is no way to adequately convey the profound experiences and lifetransforming events which took place on this trip. But I want you to have a sense of the miracles which are possible when you give yourself over fully to your passions, so let me give you a taste of this remarkable adventure. After the fire at Bapuji’s house, Juliann and I headed for Nepal where my mind would again be blown. Every step of the journey was magical.

First, a friend told us about a 107-year old woman Saint. We went to visit her as she was saying her daily prayers. She paid no attention to us, even after we entered her room, until she had finished her daily ritual. Then she turned and sang to us of beauty, love and devotion to God. Sitting in this simple hut with this old woman, I felt more comfortable, more at ease, more honored and more privileged than if I had been in the wealthiest palace with the greatest king on earth.

From there I trekked to the top of mountaintops to visit Saints with my guide and camera equipment. I found myself in a hospital room with an Aghori master (Aghori is a tradition which seeks liberation by embracing all things, including things most people in the world consider “bad” or “impure”). Everywhere I went, I was met with love. The Passion Test PDF Book Free

The path of passion takes some interesting twists and turns. It was about to take a big turn for me. As it came time to leave Nepal, Juliann came to me and said, “Janet, I can’t go, I’m sorry.” “What?!” I screeched. “I can’t go. I need to stay in Nepal and find what my passion is.” Shocked would not even begin to describe my state. Juliann was my producer, the expert who knew how to run the camera, work the microphones and manage the filming.

Yet, on some deep level I knew this had to be a blessing. Everything always was. With just a few hours to go before I had to catch my plane to Delhi, Juliann quickly gave me a crash course in the use of the equipment she had bought for me. Chris and I wrote a book about staying open in the midst of change called From Sad to Glad. Now I had the chance to practice. So we said a prayer together and I got on the plane. As I traveled from place to place I was told of one great master after another.

This is another valuable lesson. When you follow the path of your passions, you will find support coming from places you could never have imagined. Your job is to do the best you can with what you have, and be open to all the good that comes to you from those unexpected places. Be alert. Sometimes the good coming to you may be disguised as something apparently uncomfortable or undesirable, like my altitude sickness. The Passion Test PDF Book Free

When this happens stay open to see where the good is coming within the discomfort. In spite of all my extra layers, that night it got so cold I insisted my friend Tapash who was traveling with me, a life-long celibate and meditation teacher from Rishikesh, get in my sleeping bag, not for any conjugal pleasures, but solely for warmth. I didn’t give him a lot of choice as I told him,

“Tapash, if you don’t get in my sleeping bag I will freeze to death. Get in NOW!” I can’t imagine I would have survived that night otherwise. The next morning the sun was shining and I felt like a new woman. (Don’t you even think that!) As we trekked the final few hours to the source of the Ganges, I was in awe. Tall mountain peaks pierced the sky above, ruling this world with their inherent majesty. Being in this remarkable setting felt like being in another world.

The conveniences of modern life are nonexistent and the stark beauty of the surroundings is breathtaking. Arriving at Gomukh I joined other pilgrims who came to this place to dip themselves in the frigid waters of the torrent called the Ganges as it emerged from under a giant glacier. Tapash, who had mastered the art of breath control, sat in that water for almost five minutes before I made him get out. For me, it was all I could do to wet myself with this holy, yet absolutely freezing water. My predominant memory of this time is deep-felt emotions which rose to the surface.
